About the role:
We are looking for someone smart, passionate, problem solver to join the founding team at Flip and come on the adventure! You will get to:
- Collaborate with a cross disciplinary team, from product, design and insurance
- Shape the end to end insurance platform, including introducing products, purchase, claims, reporting, data & insights and administration
- Learn and gain first hand experience in growing an early-stage insurance startup, backed by one of the biggest Non-for-profit Health Insurance in Australia
- Take on large pieces of ownership and responsibility from day 1
What you will do:
We need someone who is smart, diligent, passionate and is eager to get involved in a range of different capabilities across our scaling start-up.
- Building, maintaining features and integrations in Golang
- Implement new features in a highly collaborative environment with product managers, UI/UX experts, and fellow engineers
- Help evolve/shape the new Flip insurance platform backed by the biggest non-for-profit PHI in Australia.
- Share your technical solutions and product ideas with the team.
- Contribute to a future-ready, high quality, and performance code base.
- Continue to help shape and evolve the Engineering culture by contributing, being open-minded, and fostering a safe place for individuals to be their true selves.
- Managing, maintain and configure IaC with AWS
Who are we looking for:
- Proven experience with typed languages, experience or strong interest in Golang
- Cloud infrastructure experience with AWS, working with VPC, S3, ECS, RDS etc.
- Experience with messaging or event streaming, such as RabbitMQ, Active MQ, Kafka
- Experience designing and developing service-based architectures and micro-services
- Experience designing data persistence and caching concepts using both SQL and NoSQL DBMS (e.g., Postgres, Redis)
- Enough DevOps experience to set up, configure and maintain your own dev/build environment.
- Excellent knowledge of software engineering best practices (e.g. Agile software development, test-driven development, software architecture, unit testing, code reviews, design documentation, etc.)
Preferred:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Entrepreneurial / Startup Experience
