Head of Enterprise Architecture
We are seeking a strategic and influential Head of Enterprise Architecture to lead the transformation and operation of our EA function. This role will be responsible for maturing EA into a business-aligned, outcome-driven practice that also oversees and supports the organisation’s team of Solution Architects. The successful candidate will drive architectural thinking across business and technology domains and support integrated planning and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the EA Function: Evolve EA into a modern internal consultancy focused on business outcomes, agility, and value delivery. Establish a flexible, service-oriented operating model that meets the needs of diverse stakeholders across the enterprise.
- People Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Solution Architects. Align their efforts with future-state architecture design, strategic initiatives, and delivery execution.
- Strategy and Engagement: Partner with business and IT leaders to define strategic direction, influence investment decisions, and ensure architecture is driving digital and operational outcomes.
- Architecture Planning and Governance: Oversee the development of current and future-state architectures, ensuring alignment to enterprise strategy, standards and best practices. Provide thought leadership on architecture governance, business capabilities, and emerging technologies.
- Service Delivery and Resource Management: Operate the EA team as a flexible resource bench, capable of rapidly responding to business and project demands. Manage capacity, prioritise services, and improve EA responsiveness and visibility.
- Innovation and Value Enablement: Leverage trends such as AI, platform engineering and federated architecture models. Use scenario planning, value stream mapping and capability modelling to shape strategic planning.
Essentials:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field (Master’s/MBA preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in EA roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated experience leading an enterprise architecture function within a large, complex organisation.
- Background in solution architecture, with proven experience leading high-performing technical teams.
- Deep understanding of architecture frameworks, tools, governance, and capability modelling
- Experience in agile methodologies, DevOps, and product-centric IT operating models.
- Deep understanding of cloud, AI, automation, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
- Strong influencing skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across business and technology domains.
- Comfortable operating in a federated, product-oriented or agile environment.
- Familiarity with Gartner-aligned EA practices is a strong advantage.
