NetOps Engineer


An exciting permanent opportunity to join as a NetOps Engineer in HCF Australia.


We are seeking a talented Network Operations Engineer with NetOps capabilities to help our network infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of network operations, including design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. They should have a good understanding of NetOps and DevOps principles and practices to streamline our deployment processes and enhance overall efficiency.

Key Tasks:

  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, ensuring robustness and efficiency.
  • Possess a strong understanding of infrastructure as code, with knowledge of Terraform, Azure DevOps, and Git repositories.
  • Monitor network performance metrics, troubleshoot issues, and optimize configurations to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
  • Proactively ensure network availability and security through regular monitoring and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate DevOps methodologies into network operations, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Utilize automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or similar for network provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring tasks.
  • Develop and enhance deployment processes and CI/CD pipelines to facilitate seamless network changes and updates.
  • Swiftly respond to network incidents, perform thorough root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Create, review, and maintain incident response procedures and documentation to ensure preparedness for potential network issues.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, providing timely and effective resolution of network-related issues.
  • Generate and maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Regularly produce reports detailing network performance metrics, operational status, and incident resolutions.

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Network Operations Engineer, with exposure to DevOps practices.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.) and network security principles.
  • Hands-on experience with network devices (routers, switches, firewalls), monitoring tools, and scripting languages (Python, Bash).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies is advantageous.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, DevOps, NetOps certifications) are a plus.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Proactive approach to learning and staying updated on industry trends.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively
