As a Project Leader, you’re the person who manages relationships with stakeholders, consultants, contractors and co-workers across the region’s water and wastewater infrastructure. Reporting to the Project’s Delivery Team Leader, you will lead and participate on capital and non-capital project delivery for our assets and operational works to ensure deliverables are on time, to budget and within standards.
This role is part of a delivery team of approximately eight other project leaders and is responsible for managing a suite of up to twenty minor capital and operational maintenance projects on brownfield sites to be delivered within 12-18 months. The projects may be of various engineering disciplines including Electrical, Civil and Mechanical across Water, Sewage, Drainage, and Irrigation Assets. You will be involved throughout the project delivery phases, including initiation, design, contract documentation, tender, delivery, and commissioning.

This opportunity is ideal for experienced project managers looking for a diverse portfolio of minor works projects. It could also be suitable for entry level project managers to refine and develop your project management skills or otherwise learn project management processes whilst being exposed to a wide range of engineering and project management disciplines.
Your day may include travel to sites to confirm project scope, delivery requirements or oversight of construction works. Or otherwise, office-based tasks include preparing project plans, business cases, tender packages and consulting with engineering consultants and stakeholders to confirm project designs.
Whilst we endeavour to allocate projects within your geographical area, due to resourcing you may have projects which require you to travel to remote country areas.
This role will enable you to use and strengthen your project management, contract management, stakeholder management and communication skills by effectively managing and delivering a program of minor works.
Planning, communication, and negotiation skills are key to being successful in this role. The delivery of minor capital and maintenance projects allows our operations team to continue to provide water and wastewater services safely and efficiently to our customers.
Key skills and experience:
We are looking for someone with a solid project management background in the engineering or construction field or you might come from a Trades background.
In addition, you may have experience with
Scope review and project delivery strategy
Tendering and contract award processes
Contractor Management
Construction experience including quality & HSE site inspections
Contract administration processes
Stakeholder management
