Plant Technician (Diesel Mechanic)

About the position:

An exciting opportunity exists for a full time Diesel Mechanic (Plant Technician) supporting our Diesels team in South Australia. The successful candidate will install, overhaul and conduct maintenance for all mechanical features of generating assets and auxiliary plant, to contribute to achieving the required availability and reliability of Snowy Hydro’s Diesel Generating assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine maintenance on diesel generating and auxiliary plant
  • Identify, reporting and repairing of defects with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Undertaking tasks such as welding, fabrication, lubrication, hydraulics and machining
  • Contribute to and execute the day-to-day work plans to ensure the on-time delivery of the work plan
  • Maintain records by completing all administrative requirements and utilising the maintenance management systems

About the location:

This role is based on site at Port Stanvac in Lonsdale, however you may be expected to work at our Angaston site as required.

About you:

  • A Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Mobile Plant Technology or a relevant Diesel trade certificate
  • Previous experience as a qualified mechanic
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in repairs, maintenance and diagnostics within a power generation environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and determine root cause failures on plant and equipment
  • Good communication skills and the ability to establish constructive working relationships
  • Ability to maintain the highest standard of health and safety performance
