We have a permanent opportunity based in Canning Vale for a Trades Assistant. In this role you will be responsible for assisting in performing scheduled maintenance on Corporation assets within the Mechanical and Electrical department.

What the role will involve:

  • Receiving direction to work on specific components and follow work instructions/processes.
  • Undertaking tasks onsite under direct or indirect supervision including:
  • basic interpretation of drawings
  • carry out inspections and record information
  • perform assembly and dismantling operations, such as screwing or bolting
  • transport tools, materials and work pieces to and from sites or workbenches
  • cleaning and preparing working surfaces
  • Carrying out operation and maintenance tasks requiring use of specialist tools, plant and equipment
  • Assist in operations and maintenance across the different teams
  • Assist in the maintenance of Water Corporation assets across the district

Key skills and experience:

  • Relevant experience working in a workshop environment as well as onsite experience (Welding, Fabrication, Fitting or Machining workshop) assisting Boilermakers, Mechanical Fitters, Electricians etc.
  • Willingness or progression towards or attainment of Cert III National Water Package certificate
  • Relevant High-Risk Licenses, Dogging, Vehicle Crane, Forklift.
  • HR License
  • Excavator and Bobcat experience would be advantageous
