Health and Safety Advisor (Parental Leave Cover)

Location: Ventia Wollongong
Type: Full-time, Permanent (Monday to Friday)
Duration: 12+ months (Parental Leave Cover)

About the Role:

Join Ventia as a Health and Safety Advisor and be at the forefront of our health and safety management system. This role is crucial in driving continuous improvement and supporting operational leaders to foster a safe workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively apply and support Ventia's health and safety procedures, ensuring safety standards are met and maintained across all sites.
  • Conduct thorough operational risk reviews, site audits, and inspections, ensuring risk controls are implemented, monitored, and continuously improved.
  • Lead third-party audits and guide subcontractors to ensure compliance.
  • Support the development and delivery of training materials, contribute to team competency development, and assist in scheduling assurance audits.
  • Promote and track environmental performance initiatives in line with Ventia’s sustainability goals.
  • Lead incident investigations, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and provide detailed reporting in line with Ventia’s standards.
  • Assist with post-incident injury management and liaise with support functions to ensure appropriate action is taken.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience in a Health and Safety Advisor role, with expertise in risk management, incident investigations, and auditing.
  • Qualification in Health and Safety or equivalent, along with Investigation training (iCAM).
  • Knowledge of project-related equipment and operational requirements, with a solid understanding of SHEQ management systems and processes in high-risk industries.
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and an ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Competent in using SHEQ reporting tools to track and improve safety performance using key indicators.
